Portugal–Algeria joint issue depicts four traditional costumes
Philately NewsCTT announced a joint Portugal–Algeria issue on 20 October 2026 for fifty years since the restoration of diplomatic relations. Its four stamps depict traditional clothing from both countries.
Algeria is represented by the women’s Karakou El Assimi and a traditional men’s Arab costume. Portugal contributes Nazaré’s seven-skirt costume and the Ribatejo campino’s dress, linking maritime and rural communities with their distinctive clothing traditions.
The Portuguese miniature sheet measures 125 × 95 mm and contains two N20g and two I20g stamps. WOPA’s official distribution listing credits MAD Activities and Rodrigo Rodrigues with design, Jorge Macedo and Yasmina Boukhari with illustration, and bpost Philately & Stamps Printing with offset production. It gives 20 October as the issue date.
The miniature-sheet artwork places the four costumes beside the countries’ names and the diplomatic-anniversary inscription.
