Correos releases Málaga Ciudad del Cómic cryptopostal postcard and NFT
Philately NewsCorreos has released “Málaga Ciudad del Cómic 2026”, its second cryptopostal collection and a new hybrid item combining a physical prepaid postcard with a blockchain-based digital collectable. The product went on sale on 1 October 2026 during San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, which runs from 1 to 4 October, and through Correos Market. The edition is limited and numbered to 2,000 units.
The physical element is a 10 by 14.5 centimetre postcard printed digitally on 400-gram gloss stock. It is prefranked at Tarifa A for ordinary domestic letter-post use in Spain. The postcard carries a unique code and QR link through which its associated digital item can be obtained. Correos lists the retail price as €7.49, making the product a packaged philatelic and digital collectable rather than an ordinary postcard sold only at face value.
Artist Fran Molina created the comic-inspired design. The artwork uses the visual language of sequential art and heroic adventure to connect Málaga with the international comic event. The official product image shows the postal card and its digital counterpart together, allowing collectors to see that the issue is not simply an NFT announcement or event poster. The prepaid indication on the physical card is what gives the item a direct postal function.
The digital collectable is implemented on the Polygon blockchain using the ERC-1155 standard. That structure allows Correos to associate the limited physical edition with verifiable digital tokens while keeping the product within a broader collecting framework. For buyers, the essential distinction is between the postcard, the code used to claim the token and the token itself. A complete unused package may retain all three elements, while a postally used card demonstrates the physical item’s intended service.
The release follows Correos’s first cryptopostal initiative and shows that the operator is continuing to test products that bridge traditional postal stationery and digital ownership. It also reflects a wider international trend in which postal administrations have paired stamps or cards with NFTs, augmented reality or online experiences. What makes the Málaga item specifically collectable is its finite 2,000-unit edition, numbered format, Tarifa A prepayment and link to a named public event.
For philatelists, the product belongs most directly under postal stationery because the card is prepaid for postal service. Its NFT component and premium selling price do not remove that function. Cataloguers should record the physical dimensions, print method, tariff and issue date as well as the digital platform. Describing it merely as a “crypto stamp” could be misleading, because the postal object is a postcard rather than a conventional adhesive stamp or souvenir sheet.
Thematic interest is broad. The design suits collections on comics, illustration, popular culture, Málaga, conventions and digital technology. It can also support studies of how postal operators respond to changes in collecting behaviour. A used example sent from Málaga during the convention would document place, date and event, while an unused numbered example with an unredeemed or documented digital claim may appeal to collectors who value completeness.
Condition and provenance will matter. The thick gloss card should be checked for corner wear, surface scratching and damage to the QR or unique code. Collectors should avoid publicly exposing a usable redemption code if it has not been claimed. If the digital item has already been transferred, the physical card’s number and any associated transaction record should be documented without assuming that possession of one automatically proves control of the other. The official product page is the best reference for matching the physical design, edition details and redemption process.
The issue’s sale at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga gives it a strong event context. The convention positions Málaga as a meeting place for comic creators, publishers, per
