PostEurop names Irish and Romanian winners of EUROPA anniversary postcard competition
Philately NewsPostEurop announced the results of its EUROPA stamps 70th-anniversary postcard design competition on 12 October 2026. Ellie O’Mahony of Ireland and Pavel Cantor of Romania won the two €500 prizes. The competition received 32 entries from 12 European countries and was open to young artists and design students aged 18–25.
O’Mahony arranged common-yarrow flowers into the shape of Europe. Cantor depicted children holding balloons shaped like European countries, using different colours and connecting strings to express national identities and cooperation.
Four honourable mentions went to Arthur Desmaris of France, Lauren Mulcahy of Ireland, Lea Pils of Germany and Nuraddin Mustafazade of Azerbaijan. All six selected designs were printed as official postcards and presented during PostEurop’s General Assembly in Baku on 5–9 October.
Johanna Finne, head of Åland Post Stamps and vice chair of PostEurop’s Stamps and Philately Working Group, chaired the international jury.
