Mumbai General Post Office released the picture-postcard pack “Migratory Bird of India Series–1” and a special Philately Day cancellation on 12 October 2026. The cards use photographs by naturalist Divakar Devidas Thombre and depict migratory birds visiting Maharashtra. The pack was made available through philatelic bureaus across the state.

Director Postal Services (Headquarters) Simran Kaur joined Thombre and collectors at the release. Mumbai GPO also held a themed stamp exhibition, bureau visits, quizzes, drawing competitions and talks for students during its Fun with Philately Day programme.

The release creates two distinct collecting items: illustrated bird postcards and a dated cancellation marking the national observance. The government announcement does not identify the postcards as prepaid stationery or announce a new postage stamp. It does not specify the pack’s price, number of cards or print quantity.
