An Post launches six Irish city coats-of-arms stamps
Philately NewsAn Post issued six national-rate stamps on 15 October 2026 featuring the coats of arms of Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Limerick and Waterford. Each N-rate stamp was priced at €1.85 and covers standard letter postage within the island of Ireland.
Cork’s design shows a ship between two towers, Dublin’s three burning castles, and Galway’s a single-masted galley. Kilkenny’s castle is defended by archers, while Limerick’s design combines a castle, dome, cross and raised portcullis. Waterford is represented by three golden ships.
Heraldic artist Philip Mackey worked on the stamps. The issue connects civic identity with the historical symbols still visible on buildings, flags and public objects in the six cities.
The stamps are sold individually and in four-stamp sheetlets. An Post’s shop lists each sheetlet at €7.40 and a six-stamp first-day cover at €12.60. Distribution includes the featured cities’ post offices, selected offices elsewhere and the postal operator’s online shop.
