Posten issued a stamp on 16 October 2026 marking 200 years of Rikshospitalet, Norway’s national hospital and medical teaching institution. The stamp carries the domestic large-letter value of 46 kroner.

Designed by Enzo Finger, the stamp uses the theme “Medicine and Surgery” and draws on stock photography and material credited to Richard Muir, DigitaltMuseum, the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology and Wilhelm Röntgen. It measures 38 × 30 mm and was produced in sheets of ten, with a stated printing of 80,000 stamps.

Joh. Enschedé Security Print in the Netherlands printed the issue by offset. Posten specifies TR 246-gram self-adhesive stamp paper for the commercial sheets and Securpost 178-gram self-adhesive paper for philatelic production. The design combines hospital history with medical imagery, connecting the institution’s origins in 1826 with its modern role at Gaustad.

Rikshospitalet began as a national hospital and teaching centre associated with the Royal Frederick University, now the University of Oslo. It moved to Pilestredet in 1883 and to Gaustad in 2000, later joining Ullevål and Aker university hospitals in 2009. Posten’s issue page presents the stamp as a record of two centuries of specialist care, research and medical education.
