A study by Ángel Oleas Gallo illustrates a mismatch between Ecuador’s 1998 Organisation of American States anniversary stamp and its accompanying first-day material. The article was published on 18 October 2026.

The 2,600-sucre stamp, issued on 30 April 1998, depicts the OAS emblem and its fiftieth-anniversary wording. The cover’s cachet instead includes “UNITED NATIONS”, while the commemorative cancellation uses the United Nations emblem. The illustrated cover therefore combines references to two different international organisations.
