Seychelles Postal Services unveiled a commemorative stamp marking its 165th anniversary at a ceremony on 5 October 2026. The event was held during the week of World Post Day with support from the Embassy of Japan in Seychelles.

The stamp design reproduces a historical photograph of a Seychelles post-office building taken about 120 years ago by Samuel Shingow Ohashi, a photographer from Miyazu City in Japan's Kyoto Prefecture. The use of Ohashi's photograph links the postal anniversary with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Seychelles, also observed in 2026.

The unveiling was attended by Seychelles government and postal representatives, including Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment Minister Pierre Laporte; Tourism and Culture Minister Amanda Bernstein; Victoria Mayor Josy Ita Michaud-Payet; Seychelles Postal Services vice-chair Tessa Henderson; and chief executive Mariella Buisson. Japan's ambassador, Yasuhisa Sakuta, spoke about the photograph's return to public view through the stamp.

A congratulatory message from Miyazu Mayor Masafumi Kizaki was read during the ceremony, followed by a tourism video about the Japanese city. The official account confirms the ceremony, anniversary and historical source of the design, but does not provide the stamp's denomination, dimensions, printer, printing method, issue quantity or ordering arrangements.
