Senator Esperidião Amin presented a request in Brazil’s Senate on 13 October 2026 to include artist Juarez Machado in Correios’ commemorative stamp programme. Senator Ivete da Silveira co-signed the initiative. The request asks the Senate to approach the Minister of Communications and Correios’ management about the proposed tribute.

Amin said the stamp would recognise Machado’s artistic contribution and the national and international reach of his work. He also described the proposed issue as a way to preserve the artist’s memory and introduce his work to younger generations.

Machado was born in Joinville, Santa Catarina, and worked as a painter, sculptor, draughtsman, illustrator and cartoonist. He died on 6 October at the age of 85. The proposal was presented during Amin’s speech in the Senate plenary, and Agência Senado reported it that afternoon.
