"AI" stands for Artificial Intelligence — it just means a computer program that can look at a photo and recognize what's in it, similar to how a person would, but automatically. Here, you show it a photo of a stamp, and it tells you what it can figure out about it, without you having to know the answer yourself.

- You'll see two buttons: Take Photo (opens your phone's camera right away) and Upload Photo (pick a photo you already have saved on your device).
- Once you've given it a photo, the program tells you a few things: what type of item it is (a stamp, a used envelope, a postcard, or a special "first day of issue" envelope — a cover sent on the very first day a particular stamp was released), which country it's likely from, roughly what time period, its theme, and its condition.
- One thing it can't do yet: tell you the exact catalog number collectors use to reference a stamp. That's planned for later.
- If your photo shows more than one stamp at once, the program will try to identify each one separately. This part is still being improved.
- You're allowed a certain number of these identifications per day, and it doesn't matter how many separate photos you use — they all count against the same daily total. If you'd like a higher daily amount, see "Upgrading Your Own Membership."
- If you think it got something wrong, look for a thumbs-down icon near the result and tap it. A small box opens where you can type what you think was incorrect, then tap Submit.
