USPS previews four Christmas Cookies Forever stamps ahead of September 19 issue

The U.S. Postal Service published fresh details on 18 September for its Christmas Cookies Forever stamps, scheduled for issue on 19 September at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, D.C. The four designs turn decorated sugar cookies into contemporary Christmas postage, with individual stamps depicting a Christmas tree, Santa Claus, a wrapped present and a stocking.

The stamps use alternating red and blue backgrounds around the photographed cookies. Kyrie Johnson baked and decorated the cookies and worked with USPS art director Greg Breeding on the booklet design, while Sarah Cramer Shields photographed the finished subjects. The issue continues the Postal Service's contemporary Christmas programme with imagery drawn from holiday baking and decorating rather than traditional religious subjects.

USPS will sell the four Forever designs in booklets of 20 at Post Offices and through its postal store. The 18 September publication provides the finished stamp imagery, booklet configuration, creative credits and next-day issue details immediately before the stamps enter postal use.
