UNPA opens 2026 programme with Journal of the United Nations anniversary pane

The United Nations Postal Administration issued a pane of ten $1.70 stamps on 12 January to commemorate 80 years of the Journal of the United Nations. The Journal began alongside the first United Nations General Assembly session in January 1946 and continues to record meetings, agendas and the organisation’s daily work.

The stamps, valid from the UN headquarters post office in New York, show delegates, dignitaries and staff reading the Journal. Each stamp is paired with a label carrying issue text or a Journal front page in one of several languages. Rorie Katz designed the pane with the UN Department for General Assembly and Conference Management.

Collectors should preserve the complete pane when possible because the adjoining labels and multilingual treatment provide context absent from a single stamp. The labels may also be personalised, creating varieties that should be described separately from the standard issued pane.
