UNPA continues Lunar New Year series with Year of the Horse pane

UNPA released a pane of ten Year of the Horse stamps on 16 January for use at its New York headquarters post office. The $1.70 stamps depict a running horse in alternating directions and draw inspiration from the Eastern Han dynasty sculpture commonly known as Horse Treading on a Flying Swallow.

Chinese artist Tiger Pan designed the issue, continuing the visual series he has developed for UNPA since 2022. The pane’s selvage carries mirrored horse imagery, English and Chinese wording, while attached labels display the UN emblem and can be replaced with personalised photographs.

The alternating orientation, central perforation and surrounding selvage mean a complete pane conveys much more information than detached examples. Collectors comparing the annual series should record printer, denomination, label type and whether the pane remains intact or has been personalised.
