Romania translates Sever Frențiu stained glass into a four-stamp art issue

Romfilatelia and Romanian Post introduced The Seasons in the Light of Stained Glass: Sever Frențiu on 28 January. Four denominations reproduce works from the stained-glass collection held by the Administrative Palace in Arad.

Mihai Criste designed the issue, which was printed by offset in four colours. Products included the basic set, sheetlets, full sheets, a first-day cover, a special block and a philatelic folder, allowing the same artistic subject to be collected in several formats.

The unusually tall stamp dimensions suit the vertical character of stained glass, while the miniature-sheet and block layouts may add architectural context. Collectors should verify each product’s composition and avoid confusing the special block with the standard set when recording catalogue entries or prices.
