Jersey’s Year of the Horse set draws on Chinese paper-cutting traditions

Jersey Post released its Year of the Horse issue on 27 January. Wang Huming designed the stamp and miniature sheet using visual ideas from traditional Chinese paper cutting.

Cartor Security Printers produced the 36-millimetre square design by offset lithography with gold metallic ink and varnish. Products included the basic stamp, miniature sheet, sheetlets, blocks, first-day covers, presentation packs and postcards.

Because the same design appears across many formats, collectors should describe each product precisely and distinguish mint, CTO and serviced-cover versions. Metallic ink and varnish should also be checked under suitable light when assessing condition.
