POST Luxembourg offers Crown-themed philatelic cancellation

POST Luxembourg listed a Crown philatelic cancellation dated 23 January. The service applies to valid Luxembourg postage stamps and postal cards submitted under its cancellation rules.

The published conditions require minimum franking for most submitted items and specify that obsolete Luxembourg-franc-only stamps cannot be cancelled. First-day cancellations are treated differently where the relevant new issue has a lower value.

Collectors should distinguish an official cancellation service from a new postage-stamp issue. The underlying stamp, cancellation date, submission format and whether the item travelled through the mail should all be recorded separately.
